An apostille is a form of international document authentication established by the Hague Convention of 1961. It certifies that a public document such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or power of attorney is genuine and can be officially recognized in another country that is also a member of the Hague Convention. Think of an Apostille as a seal of approval that tells foreign governments that this document is real, properly issued, and legally valid.
